During the last week of June and the first week of July 2007, Chris, Peggy, and A.J. spent 10 days exploring the Canadian Rockies, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Hu-Friedline family spent their first four days at the Emerald Lake Lodge near Field, British Columbia. From there they toured Emerald Lake, Takkakaw Falls, Lake Louise and Athabasca Glacier. Days five through eight were spent at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff, Alberta. During this time, Chris, Peggy, and A.J. rafted the Bow River, met the sled dogs of the Snowy Owl Kennel, and visited Sulphur Mountain. The last two days of the trip were spent on the "Rocky Mountaineer" train where the three travelers saw all the sites from Banff to Kamloops then continued to Vancouver, where they ended their travels. The Hu-Friedline family took over 1,300 pictures, making this trip the most photo-documented of all their travels. Below are 10 pages (one for each day) containing over 300 of these pictures.
Day 1 - Emerald Lake: After traveling for 17 hours from their home in Virginia, the Hu-Friedline family arrived at the Emerald Lake Lodge late at night. The following morning, they awakened to find a stunning view out their patio window and were ready to start exploring. During the first day, Chris hiked around Emerald Lake while Peggy and A.J. settled in. Below are the pictures from that day.
