On December 4, 2008, the Treasury Department won the President's Award for Management Excellence - also known as the President's Quality Award - for its Budget Formulation and Execution Manager (BFEM) program. The BFEM program is a service the Treasury Department offers to other agencies to help them formulate and manage their budgets. The award is the Federal Government's version of the Malcolm Baldridge Award and is given in recognition of innovative federal programs that more effectively address the needs of the public. More information on the award can be found at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's web site.
