Friday, April 24 came and I had been in Japan for a week. Peggy had been overseas for two weeks and it seemed like a good time to go, but not go home. Peggy was entitled to a stopover in Hawaii and, just like Japan, we were going to take advantage of it. On that Friday morning I kept teasing Peggy with the comment, "Think of it, this time today, we'll be in Hawaii." Peggy took it with mild amusement, allowing me to feel clever that I noticed we would be leaving Japan at 8 o'clock Friday evening and arriving in Hawaii at 9 o'clock Friday morning. I wish I could move back in time like that every weekend, just like I enjoyed taking off from Detroit Thursday afternoon, skipping Thursday night, and landing straight into Friday evening when I arrived in Tokyo. Playing with the International Dateline can really screw you up but I digress, let's talk about Hawaii.

While we were in Hawaii, we spent most of our time on the island of Oahu, which is where Honolulu is located. We stayed near Waikiki Beach and from there we traveled to Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Mt. Tantalus, and Diamond Head Crater. We made a one day trip to "The Big Island" (Hawaii) as well. There we saw the Kiluea volcano, the Kona coffee plant, and plenty of rain forest. Below are some of my favorite shots from Hawaii.
